LAWN SCARIFICATION

Scarification is a mechanical process that removes thatch build-up from your lawn, thatch forms naturally whilst growing throughout the year. This prevents your lawn from getting the water, oxygen and nutrients which your lawn requires to grow and thrive. We will be able to advise you whether or not your lawn has thatch when we carry out your free lawn survey. Our scarification service is carried out in Spring and Autumn.

Lawn Aeration

Aerating your lawn benefits it in so many ways, it loosens the compacted soil, which in turn increases the availability of water and nutrients. With enhanced root oxygen levels from the space made, this stimulates root growth and enhancing the beneficial bacteria to multiply which feeds the grass. It allows water to drain away more freely, reducing the prevalence of moss. We use a fractured tine aerator which purposely severs roots and encourages new growth. Your lawn has better drought tolerance and it improves its overall health. Aeration is carried out in Spring and Autumn.

Lawn Treatment

We have 3 different seasonal lawn treatments to choose from, our first is 5 treatments over a year, these are 8 weekly to ensure your lawn stays at its best throughout the year. The first treatment is a spring fertilizer to give it a boost at the start of the growing season, next is a weed treatment to kill off any broad-leaved weeds.  Our fourth is the Summer organic feed, here we are looking to promote root growth after the strain of hot weather and deter any moss which is looking to take hold. Our last is the winter feed which is there to reduce any stubborn moss and feed the lawn over the winter period.

 Our enhanced programme includes the above 5 treatments and an aeration cultural treatment.

 The complete programme includes both the 5 treatments and the aeration, whilst also allowing a scarification which will remove the thatch in your lawn. This will ensure your lawn receives the water it requires and doesn’t feel spongy underfoot.

Disease & Pest Control

Numerous lawn diseases can affect the health and appearance of your lawn, from dollar spot, fusarium blight, red thread and fairy rings.

Pests in your lawn can cause extensive damage unless they are dealt with quickly. These can range from Chafer Grubs, Leather Jackets and Worms and can usually be dealt with in one application.

Cherished Lawn Care through our seasonal programme, will be able to detect, treat and eliminate these from your lawn.  

Moss Control

Moss affects all lawns unless treated annually and can particularly troublesome in damp and shaded areas.  Through our Seasonal Lawn Treatment programme, we can tackle this through our 4th and 5th treatments late in the year to kill any new moss growth and stop it from establishing in your lawn.

Scarification is also a good way to remove a large build-up of thatch, however, we would recommend that you have our lawn renovation service to give the best results.

Over Seeding

Overseeding is carried out free of charge whenever you take our scarification or aeration service to ensure your lawn remains thick and healthy. We can also carry this out during one of our lawn treatments at a small additional cost for any bare areas. This will be advised either when we carry out our free lawn analysis at the start of your lawn care service with us or as part of our continued lawn health check during our seasonal treatments.

Top Dressing

We use only the best top dressing available to allow us to give you a true and level lawn by filling any imperfections and thereby creating a smooth surface. The addition of certain nutrients into your soil will also improve the fertility of your lawn, encouraging healthy shoots and improving the existing soil structure. Top dressing can also be used for any re-seeding, giving the new seeds a light covering of soil to help germinate them quickly.

Weed Control

Lawn weeds establish because they can survive regular close mowing and spread by either seed or stems growing, they can usually take over a lawn that is either bare or thinly sowed.  You could individually remove each weed, however, this is time-consuming and hard work.  We can carry this task out for you during our Seasonal treatments to keep these weeds at bay and remove them before they can establish in your lawn by using a selective herbicide.

Lawn Renovations

If your lawn has bare patches, full of weeds or heavy moss/ thatch, rather than expensively re-turfing your lawn, why not let us renovate it. Your lawn will be scarified, aerated and overseeded using a top quality seed mix, with top-dressing applied to ensure the seeds germinate quickly. We will then carry out checks of your new lawn alongside our lawn treatment programme, to ensure your new lawn is progressing as expected and any issues rectified promptly.

Surface Cleaning

Do you have a build-up of moss and algae on your decking, block paving or patio? Are they looking tired and nothing like they did when first laid? You could have it pressure washed, however, this just removes the moss/ algae and will soon re-grow. Let us spray your surfaces with our moss and weed killer, we also use our special weed inhibitor that stops the moss and weeds from re-growing. This works out to be a lot cheaper and quicker than pressure washing.

Free Lawn Survey

We believe that the only way to advise you about your lawn is to visit and look at it for ourselves. 

We will measure up, discuss any issues you are having with your lawn, take a soil sample and give you an insight into what is happening below the surface, visually inspect the lawn and advise on any weeds, pests or diseases present and provide you with a treatment plan. 

This will ensure you have a lush and healthy green lawn. You do not need to sign up to a contract and can stop the treatments at any time.
